MT A532 General Topology II

FINAL EXAM

Time/Place

This section of the course (Spring 2006) meets MWF 3:10-4:00PM in Ritter Hall 223.

General Description

Here is the course schedule which gives the specific topics to be covered and corresponding section numbers in the book.

Textbook Information

The required text for the course is Algebraic Topology, by Allen Hatcher. Students can buy the book from the SLU Bookstore or Amazon. The book is also available for free download from the author's web page at Cornell, but unless you plan to use the electronic (PDF) version exclusively, I'd encourage you to buy the paperback edition, a bargain at $33.00.

Homework and Exams

There will be some homework problems every week, unless otherwise indicated. Here is the latest homework assignment. You are encouraged to discuss homework problems with your classmates, but each student should prepare his or her own set of solutions.

There will be an in-class midterm Monday March 6th, worth 30% of your final grade. Homework and class participation are worth 30% of your grade. The final exam is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10th from 2:00-3:50PM; it is comprehensive and is worth 40% of your grade. No make-up exams will be given. The College of Arts and Sciences has a policy concerning academic honesty with which you should be familiar.
