Definition and basic properties of contour integrals.

More computations with contour integrals, experiments with conjectural "Fundamental theorem of calculus".

Homework handout: Do problems 3a, 3d, 6, 7, 8, 12 from 4.2 and problems 1a,b,c,g,i, 2, 4, 6, and 7 from 4.3.

WEEK 3: 1/26 - 1/30

Proof that various statements are equivalent to "f has an antiderivative in a domain D" (one part of this is what we called the "fundamental theorem").
Homework: Read Chapter 8 of the text. Make sure you can do the computational exercises 4, 5, and 6 (the last of these is just the "fundamental computation" from class). Then do #13.

WEEK 4: 2/2 - 2/6

Proof of Cauchy's theorem (loop integrals vanish if differentiable on and inside).
Homework: p. 421, #8, 9, 12, 14.
